David Fu ’27 on WMHT

Academy student was featured playing Hungarian Rhapsody No. 11.
Albany Academy is proud to share that David Fu ’27 was recently featured on WMHT Public Media. David showcased his incredible piano talent, playing Hungarian Rhapsody No. 11, and shared his musical journey and career ambitions.

David was nominated for this feature by Rich Johnson, Director of Visual and Performing Arts at Academy, who recognized David’s exceptional skills. Johnson remarked, "David is an extraordinary young musician whose dedication, exceptional skill, and genuine humility set him apart. Listening to him perform is a remarkable experience, akin to enjoying a professional concert right here at school. I can't wait to see the incredible path his talent will lead him on next!"

David, who has been taking professional piano lessons since the age of four, shared his own gratitude for his teachers and his family, who have been very supportive of David’s passion for the piano. “It has been a stroke of rare luck to be in such a supportive community, and I would never have been able to sustain so long without my fellow friends and teachers,” says Fu, “Mr. Johnson has helped nurture me ever since I came to the Academy as a middle schooler, and I owe much of my gratitude to him for always giving me opportunities and being there as someone I can lean on.”

Congratulations to David for this outstanding achievement!
